For this latest car, we used MSD Digital Window Switch 8969.
You can see photos and videos of it here: http://www.jgy.cc/Project%20Cars/Ste...tevenShawl.htm The solenoids for the VVL are light light bulbs, power in power out (12v). We simply grabbed one wire from each and joined them together and ran them straight to the battery. (no it won't drain it). The other 2 wires, we joined them together and connected to the yellow wire of the MSD. We connected the red of the MSD to a switched power source (fog light/hazard light switches in the dash), the black to ground, and the signal to the tach source. The best tach source is the ECU. (skip all that internet jaz of messing with the distributor and all that). Pin 2 on the ECU is the tach output. Follow this link for "how to make the signal work". http://www.jgyforum.com/showthread.php?t=203 After that.......it should be powered on when you turn the key on. For our setup, we turned them on at 5000 rpm (50 on the box) and off at 5000rpm (which means they are on at 5000 and off below 5000). This resulted in more power above 5000rpms. I noticed a slight delay in the "ON" time. If you wanted to be picky, I would change it to on at 49 and off at 49 so that it would turn on at about 5000rpms.

Update!
Try using the Summit Racing SUM-830450-1. Price is great and the item is easy to install.
