If you don't know, Mario sold his sweet 200sx with built sr20det, courtesy of JGY:). Well the guy that has it now is turning around and trying to get rid of it. He says it smokes. I will post the links of both the old for sale forum and the one on Importatlanta.com where the other guy tried to sell it but was called out. So I wanted to post the links up here to the ads on the forum and the video the guy sent me about how it smokes. For those of you that know the car, I need to know if it is acting differently(smoking due to fuel, or to rings)

http://www.importatlanta.com/forums/showthread.php?t=234289&page=1&pp=20

Read the mod list if you don't know, and see if you think that this car is running rich or just needs rings. Im still trying to get this car so that I can finish the project.

and this vid. of the car from the current owner........who btw knows nothing about cars and should have never taken this car on.

2 of us here thought that he would sell it, it was by far more car than he was comfortable with

the cute part is that as I write this, someone called about the car and said that it has alot of water coming out of the exhaust

what do you mean Brandon by "finishing the project?" you mean the body and wheels?

I want to put my touch on an otherwise very complete car. My only issue is that is smokes, like in the video. So I assume it probably needs some rings and/or a head gasket. But I am not really excited about taking it apart. I already own a b13 with euro sr20 swap with bolt ons and I love it. I would love to get it turbo charged and just run low boost on the b13. But I hate to see some idiot mess up the car. He is getting a local guy to rebuild it if I don't get it. The biggest issue I have about the car is that the current owner is still lying through is teeth, even after he was called out by many people. So I am up in the air about what to really do with it. I just wanted to see what you guys thought about the car, since you guys built the motor. I want to know what you might think the problem may be with it? I dont have much time to spend on completely taking a motor apart. Thanks JGY in advance for any information

It's a newly built motor with nothing spared. If it is smoking ............I seriously doubt that new rings or head gasket are bad............I would say someone did something bad.

That car dyno'd at 340HP at just 16psi when it was here. You could tell when Mario got it that it was way more car than he wanted.

It has a $1500 transmission converted by us.
It has a $300 clutch from us.
It has a $280 flywheel from us.
It has a $3500 motor that we built.......may be bad.
It has $2500 worth of turbo and fuel stuff.
It has $500 JWT ecu.

It's a stock looking dented car with good interior.

We called Mario yesterday just to see what he sold it for. He said he sold it because he didn't know how to work on it and the lifters fell. He sold it for $4000.

It's a $10,000 car. It's people like him that make it hard to keep the value of these built cars what they should be.

It has a 550HP turbo on it.

So the lifters failed? What exactly does he mean, they aren't pumping up like they should? I really want the car, and based on what you have told me, I want it more. I'm just wondering why it is smoking? Have you viewed the video? Its really hard to diagnose a car from 250 miles away.

it's like saying I sold my maxima because the tires filled with water........it doesn't happen

The only way the lifters can leak down is if the car is upside down or messed with.
Mario is a very nice person.................but
When he picked the car up, he was having a hard time with the clutch, so I look over and I see him under the hood adjusting something. I asked him what he was doing and he said he was softening the clutch. W? he was loosening the adjusting nut on the cable. ! He wasn't softening the clutch, he was messing up the throw of the clutch arm.

not a clue why it is smoking or what someone did to it to make it smoke

as far as complete the car was almost there. for me moving out and school was my main priority at the time i sold the se-r. the car was pretty fast and ran good, but for me driving 40 miles to work one way it was a little rough on gas. as far as the body it needs paint and a front bumper. the wheels were going to be painted black and put back on there. now to the smoking part! this car car a lightning maf and 1000cc injectors, jwt's ecu so it was running really rich. sometimes it would smoke if you got on it. so it's a pretty good car overall with some paint and wheels. i liked to stock look myself! anyways gl on the find and if you do end up with it its got a lot of money under the hood from chrome, to a gt3076r!

I (hopefully am wrong but......) can see where this is going.

What paperwork are you discussing? Do you want copies of all the dyno pulls and runs that we have saved on the Mustang Dyno of your car? Do you want data logs of your sensors values during the pulls? Do you want recorded values of what your fuel pressure was and is during those pulls?

Here is the note on your invoice that was emailed to you several times at the dyno reference line: "Dyno Tuning - to get above 400WHP,could not get that high due to lack of boost, quit at only 16psi at redline"

 so what do you need?

oh.........smoke from gas.........that makes alot more sense now. I couldn't really see any smoke on the video from that kid and I wondered what they were talking about. But if he meant smoking from fuel when he got on it, yeah, it may have and the number for JWT for the ECU tune is 619 442 0680
