Does anybody know of any aftermarket turbo manifolds for a GA16DE motor??? I've seen a few, but no 4 tube manifolds. Are 2 pipes better than 4 pipes or something? And the only kits I've seen are for a T20 turbo (too small). Are there any other kinds of turbo manifolds for a GA16DE motor for a T25, T3/4, or T28 turbo? Help please, I gotta go faster.

These are a few pics of what I can find, but I don't know where to get one from.

Note that this engine is not the ones that are in America.
The engine does not have the VTC mechanism (Located on the engine, passenger side)

Ok well thats not really the manifold I was looking for, I don't want a 2 pipe turbo manifold.
This is the kind I keep seeing, no 4 pipe manifolds just 2 pipes.

What is the weight difference between an SR20 and a GA16

Hahaha Hot Shot is not around anymore.... They haven't been for a long time. That is 4 pipe. Just cast as it looks like 2 but there is 4 in there lol Why does it matter?

Thats funny, their website still shows so I guess google lied to me, I am now ashamed. But oh well I am sure you can find something out there, just do a search in google, there were more options that popped up but Hotshot was the only one that I remembered from earlier dealings on the SR forums.

In addition to the weight difference question, is turboing a motor with this VTC like trying to turbo a VVL motor or a V-TEC motor, just not that practical?

Get the cast one, your not going to be pushing enough boost for it to matter if you have a cast or tube style mani, plus you will never ever break it.

I guess I should just drop the whole thing and do an SR20 swap and turbo that.
Back to Nathan's VTC question and engine weight difference.
GA16DE = The GA block is full iron.
SR20DE = The SR block is half iron, half aluminum (some say all aluminum).
This is a big factor in the weight difference. People say that the GA motor and the SR motor actually weight close to each other. This blew my mind, I was sure that there would be a significant weight difference between the 2 motosr (I mean there is a 0.4L difference between the 2).
The VTC: Nissan Variable Cam Timing (commonly known as N-VCT, VCT, NVCS or CVTC) is an automobile variable valve timing technology developed by Nissan. N-VCT varies the timing of the valves by rotating the cam shaft(s); valve lift and duration are NOT altered. The system is implemented with an electric solenoid which is controlled by the cars ECU. Some Nissan engines only have N-VCT on the inlet cam (such as the RB25DE/DET) while others have it on both the inlet and exhaust cams.
Here is a good example of the VTC in a GA16 in action.
GA16DE VTC (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f5gafgm79hE)
Not all GA16's have VTC, but it is easy to pick out.
Passenger side of valve cover, there is a hump sticking out, directly behind that its the solenoid poking out, sliver and looks like a cylinder.

Non-VTC motor
Notice no hump or solenoid

Its not to bad to turbo a VTC motor at all. Some of the RB motors have VTC too.

Wow that was amazing. I've always have faith in my GA16DE, lets get that straight. I've always tried ot make it more. Now I guess its time for the turbo. Thanks James for the motivational booster. But you have to give me more info on that setup.

go to www.notnser.com and how much horsepower are u wanting? u can get 200-240whp farily cheap

I was hoping for 300hp, but 240 is a good number. I mean right now I'm at 110 hp if I'm lucky, so 100 more hp would be a big improvement.

The SR is all aluminum and all power. Both motors are aluminum heads. They weigh almost the same
