What is the best upgrade for the front brakes of a B14 200SX 1.6L? I mean like a whole upgrade kit. Replace rear drum brakes with rotors and everything. I'm not sure but I think my car currently has 1 piston calipers, so it stops but it could stop better. I think I might need to get new rotors soon anyways.

Remember: How fast you can go is determined on how fast you can slow down.

Go with the kit Jason is talking about for the fronts but that doesn't include the rears I think. Wilwoods work **** well on my B14 :D

If you want to save $ you could do some NX calipers I dont remember how many pistons they have though.

That sounds good, but I think that might be too much. Can there be a point to where the caliper has so much clamping force that it just grabs the rotors and the wheels lock up constantly, even though the pedal is not pressed that hard? My car doesn't have ABS either, or it does but doesn't work properly because the wheels can lock up.

No, see the thing is that any brake upgrade will make the brakes more "touchy" there are several reason for brake upgrades.

#1 is stopping power
#2 reduced or eliminated "brake fade"
#3 increased pedal pressure or pedal "feel"
#4 they just look so much **** better then the stocker's

We have a full set (front and rear) here and ready to ship

Ok I see. Well I need more stopping power, I have brake fade, and of course I want some good looking brakes beside stock.

i heard that u can use altima/240sx 2.4L brake booster?

Jason@JGY

I see no need to change the brake booster.......done alot of brake jobs over the years with Sentras and never have seen the need

your brake bias always needs to be to the front, way to the front, and with the kit I run on the blue sentra, my fronts still lock up before the rears at a good rate

yes, the Fastbrake kit that we helped make as we supplied the parts for it

Unless I'm mistaken, the only way to convert B14 rear brakes from drum to disc is to find a a B14 200SX SE-R or Sentra SE and take the entire rear suspension beam, plus brake lines and emergency brake cable. It has to do with the way the calipers mount onto the axle that requires all that for a conversion.

A sweet "poor man's" big brake upgrade would be to get 91-93 NX2000 calipers, pads and rotors *non-ABS*, as well as a brake master cylinder from a 94 Altima *non-ABS*. I talked my co-worker into this setup on his 95 SE-R and he loves it.

Now, as far as the master cylinder is concerned. You DON'T need to do the upgrade. Most people do just because it has a longer stroke for pushing the fluid. When combined with the NX brakes, it helps give the brakes a more stock feel instead of being bitey and making the nose of the car dive if you have to hit them in a hurry. It's not a necessity, but more an item of personal feel.

An even cheaper brake upgrade I did back on my 96 200SX SE was I bought a set of 97 SE-R front calipers off a guy who did the NX upgrade. The SE-R calipers are slightly bigger than the SE's, so given the power (or lack thereof) on the SE, they made a decent difference.

Wow that first set up sounds really nice. I might have to write that stuff down. NX and Altima parts....check.

I told you about NX stuff a long time ago, pretty sure they're just one piston though but they're big and cheap and work great.

O yeah of course. I would like to give Nathan the credit for putting knowledge about NX brakes in my head.

I didn't mean it like that Chris. Just sayn you weren't too excited about it before but I'm glad you came around.

I like the stock MC with the brake upgrade. I like for performance to feel like performance........not stock :-)
