Na my friend its good. I made 2 custom panels for it. One under the filter and one behind the filter. Its completely boxed in from water and it drives fine in the rain too.

Dang you think it looks really bad thought? I thought it was really sweet and creative. You wouldn't believe the horsepower gains I get from putting the filter there because its exposed to the air. You can tell a big difference on the interstate.

Hey! what do you want your name to be on the forum? It needs to be your name and something. Unless your name is CQ, I'll delete you today. What do you want it to be and I'll save you.

Well let me just say, I put the intake on in the summer 08 and have been driving with it on ever since. It has rained a lot between those times, and the car its running 110%.

When I first saw the intake I was worried too, but it's working for him still with no problems.
Chris, what does the enclosure look like to keep it from water because in the pictures it does look pretty exposed.

I really don't have any pics of the panels but I'll do my best.
If you look closely at the very bottom of the bumper you see a very small thin layer under the bumper. Thats the panel under the filter. It sticks out a little because it attacked the bottom part of the bumper.
http://photos-b.ak.fbcdn.net/photos-ak-sf2p/v289/139/53/201803147/n201803147_30586497_8233.jpg
Now if you look at the filter you can clearly see something behind the filter. I basically got some sheet metal and cut it and formed it into the shape I wanted. It covers the back of the filter very well.

Wouldn't you suck most of the water in through the now open light-hole?
If you're not having a problem keep it up but just making sure
Jason@JGY

I think most people are worried for nothing about CAI sucking water.
A small amount of water hitting that air filter will just fall off. Put your hand over the filter when it's running and see if it sucks your hand.
Also, water injection (albeit atomized) is the art of putting water in your motor.
Also, sucking air through a filter......the air will want to enter the least path of resistance to go into the filter. Cover half the filter with a piece of plastic. The car still runs.
The chance of water hitting that air filter and the motor having enough force/pull to suck the water up that tube and past the throttle body is slim to none.
NOW...........
on a scale of 1 to 100, if hydrolocking your motor with the factory air box is a 1, then hydrolocking your motor with that set up, might be a 10.
Mario........just calm down.

Well of course I will suck up some water. The thing is, people think if you suck up any amount of water then the engine will hydro-lock. This is a false statement, some engines can suck up a little mosture and it is fine. Some cars run better when they suck up water. Ever heard of water/meth injection, I think there is water included in that mix. But I do suck up some water, but not enough to affect the function of my engine. The only way to hydro-lock an engine is if the intake pipe is below water and you throttle the engine.

I mean, if we gonna steal the show from Chris's thread and post videos, HERE YOU GO.
Notice the smooth lines, the playing with the wheel to move the car from side to side, notice the nice transition from parking lot to parking lot, notice that I have the skills to roll down the passenger window and talk, notice how I place the car on the concrete at the end for the hood to be popped.
..........notice that I DID NOT slide into the grass like the other video

Not really unfortunately. I really need to save to pay tuition for school in the fall.
Although.......I do have a CF hood sitting in my shed right now.
All it really needs is a fresh clear coat. I got it from a friend and its really faded.
I got in a wreck back in February and I had to replace driver side fender, new bumper, new wheel, and the cf hood. I also threw my fog lights back on and painted them yellow.
You can tell on the hood I got on now is messed up. If you look in the corner near the turn signal, there is some blue tape covering up some of the damage.
As for the SR swap, I think I'm just going to wait until after I graduate.
