Dustin
02-12-2009, 01:00 AM
Its a 2006 if im not mistaken, the 10 hp difference you found wont make any difference at all once this babys dancing around with 2 beautiful turbo's on her :D

We could roll with that theme and call it the DonkeyPunch car. and maybe with some oriental style writing put something that looks like it is messed up in translation, like how Tomie's stuff is sometimes.

like "DonkeyPunch, follow my flavor lead, excellence"

sleeper-VAN
02-12-2009, 08:54 PM
ok, now we need dustin to make up name to call this project and have a poll to decide the name of the project. "DonkeyPunch" or whatever dustin thinks it should be called.

NathanM

How much was the engine if you don't mind telling?

Dustin
02-17-2009, 12:39 PM
I wont disclose the price, we got a one time deal. Expect price ranges to be anywhere between $2000-$5,000 depending where you get it from. Junkyards can be your best resource.

NathanM
02-17-2009, 04:24 PM
That's fair. Do you have the transmission figured out yet?

Dustin

VQ trans from a 350z

sleeper-VAN
02-17-2009, 10:33 PM
this thing is gonna be so beastly, no telling what kind of publicity you guys will get from this. anyways, this engine would normally have a 5spd auto, correct? so then putting a 6spd on there, does that promote more opportunity for bigger numbers or in a couple ways keep all the power under control?

Dustin
02-17-2009, 10:51 PM
Im not sure what kind of baseline power we will get. Yes it was originally a 5 spd auto, so having a manual trans matted up to it would lead me to belive the potential of the VK will come to life. As of right now were planning for a custom intake manifold, a set of custom cams from Brian Crower, and custom headers. After i run it for awhile and we work any bugs out, then Jason, garlin and myself will work on building the twin turbo kit for it. looking for 500+hp out of her when shes done. And as far as publicity, i suggest you subscribe to Performance Auto & Sound magazine, to be honest I like reading this publication more then Superstreet or Dsport/Import tuner etc. Check them out online, their website is A+++

Take my advice and buy your cams from JWT and nobody else. They hold the original designs on the cams and have a few different options to choose from with the VK.... They also have a really trick tool that makes it a snap to change out springs ( which you will need with the cams ) The tool makes it so easy a ten year old can do it !

Very nice

Jason@JGY
03-29-2009, 06:45 PM
looked good until I saw the Aeromotive FPR or whatever........ I hate their products on all Nissans we have ever had here.......and their tech support is only for Domestic non fuel injected questions

nice boy, where did you get him? he work well?

what is the center yellow light for?

all our sand rail customers send us photos that are so elusive, we still don't believe in sand rails. It's like Big Foot footage. We have one customer in Arizona that we have been asking for photos for 4 years. We get a photo of a tire in the dark! I want to see a full photo in the daylight with the thing finished.

You are probably correct on the cam advice though, but we won't let a kid do the work.

kscherbaum
03-29-2009, 07:22 PM
Aeromotive products work well but not on production cars... They dont hold pressure and cold starts can be problematic - works well on the buggy though...

Yelow light is on constant for visibility in the dust although I dont expect too many buggies will be catching me from behind !

The Kid is mine, 10 yrs old and pretty smart ! Works cheap and does good work - he checked the cold lash, pulled the buckets and figured out which ones we needed to install to get the lash within tolerance, installed the Cams and torqued them down. I assembled the rest of the motor though. I will post some photos of the car when its 100% complete.

Well I just spent some time browsing some Titan forums and found some good and bad news.

The good news.....At only 4 psi Titans are spitting out 475 whp at 3500 RPM's

The bad news.....At 9psi they go BOOM!!!!(The stocker rods bend) lol but before they go boom there making 700WHP at just 4,000 RPMS......Imagine what one would do with just pistons and rods!!! YUMMY!!!!!

Jason@JGY
04-03-2009, 12:11 PM
that's what happens with 8 cylinders....and boost, good numbers come out at less psi than you think

for us 4 cylinder guys......it's surprising

at least that block is aluminum and the heads are too.......if not, that thing would be heavier than Starr Jones back in the 90's

Dustin
04-03-2009, 01:10 PM
lol tru, but its just crazt I mean 4psi just isnt anything.....hell your *** produces more then 4psi when you walk by my desk and let one rip.

NathanM
04-04-2009, 01:02 PM
It's official you need to build the inside when you boost it.

I was at a Nissan dealership this week and they had a VK56 just laying there on the floor tipped over, I really wanted to just grab it and run but I'm not quite that strong

NathanM
04-13-2009, 07:05 PM
So has any progress been made on this project?

Dustin
04-13-2009, 08:49 PM
Absolutely not, im a broke b i t ch right now lol

NathanM
04-13-2009, 08:51 PM
Good thing you bought that Q45... Time ta sell it...

Jason@JGY
04-13-2009, 08:51 PM
no progress other than the motor is here awaiting the female dog above to start paying for it. We are sending him a notice at the end of the month.

Dustin
04-13-2009, 08:53 PM
ive considered that option

Jason@JGY
04-13-2009, 08:59 PM
payment in full the day of sale sir

also....doesn't help to sell a car to buy another car.....run what you got..it's not like it's a 30k bill you got on the Q45

3 things

1. grow a pair
2. show them off
3. drive a 5.6

Dustin
04-13-2009, 09:03 PM
yeah but at this rat i wont be driving the 5.6 for 5.6 years

Jason@JGY
04-13-2009, 09:08 PM
it could be due to YOUR HORRIBLE SPELLING.

I'm all for mis spelling on this forum on hard words.....because we don't have a spell check, but "rate" and "I've"

COME ON YOU ARE BETTER THAN THAT ...(grow a pair)

p.s I have nismo bearing boxes in the tow truck............know anything about that?

Dustin
04-13-2009, 09:10 PM
this pair in your face ? Sound like a plan to me :D wanna be my camping partner at hyper fest ?

Jason@JGY
04-13-2009, 09:18 PM
4 things that don't go together.....you, me, a tent, and the word "partner"

:-) Last time I checked, you were the one playing "BrokeBackMountain" on DVD in the Q45 driving around.

I'm thinking of posting of poll on the forum for a mandatory payroll deduction for the 5.6 that will be matched by donations from all the forum members

p.s. who wants to see photos of Dustin's car? It's in a barn at my house!

Dustin
04-13-2009, 09:43 PM
You leave my car out of this

NathanM
04-14-2009, 12:03 AM
Take pics, I wana see all the dust and cobwebs on it

Dustin
04-14-2009, 12:05 AM
I hate you

04-14-2009, 11:28 AM
Dustin may need to ask for a raise....

NathanM
05-10-2009, 12:09 PM
Well since Dustin failed and the motor is up for grabs, I was wondering what performance parts you guys have available for the motor, ie pistons, flywheel, etc...

Dustin
05-11-2009, 05:33 PM
Nothing at all, these dont come in a manual trans so any flywheel you want wil have to be fully custom, including a clutch. Pistons......CP makes a set, and as far as rods go theres only one company i know of making them for it and they run about 2600.00. Sillen and Vort4ech make super chargers ranging from 4k to 7k. So if you have lots of money (I dont) then this is the motor choice for you

NathanM
05-11-2009, 06:30 PM
Wouldn't you just use the clutch from a 350z to go with the trany? Flywheel should be the only thing you really have to go make and between you and Jason you should be able to get something good made up.

And if you don't go boost it and just get the car rolling around on its own power you don't have to worry about anything internal.

You should be able to get the motor at least into your car and going...

Dustin
05-11-2009, 06:33 PM
Its still being considered, but right now I dont have ANY money at all. Ive gotten addicted to hookers (Jason) and crack so money isnt flowing good .

NathanM
05-11-2009, 07:00 PM
I can appreciate that, but am I right on the clutch thing that you could just get a good clutch for a 350z and that would work?

Could you adapt the stock flywheel to work with the new transmission somehow?

Dustin
05-11-2009, 07:31 PM
yes a 350z clutch would work, and i would probably use a 350z flywheel and just weld it to the stock vk flywheel so that the starter would hit the stock flywheel

NathanM
05-12-2009, 09:57 PM
See look at all this tech you have... doesn't sound too expensive anymore once you get some cash flowing again. Ask Jason for a raise

Dustin
05-12-2009, 10:04 PM
Ask Jason for a raise

BAHAHAHAHAH thats like asking a lion to let go of the gazelle....

NathanM
05-12-2009, 11:05 PM
Haha, you should ask and videotape his reaction.

So I found more info about the people who put the 5.4 into a G35. Apparently JWT has some good camshafts and valve springs already (for the 5.4). And they (Drift Emporium) made an adapter plate to mate the G35's trany to the motor. They're using an Exedy clutch and flywheel which I'm assuming are for the stock transmission, no talk of welding the flywheels together. Found it all in March 09 ImportTuner.

Sure sounds sweet. :D
