I'm Nathan from Wisconsin and this is my 200sx SE-R. I got the car for $500 in descent shape, and have rebuilt the car basicly from the ground up. To make things worse in my plans, the car was hit by a suburban about 2 years ago now, and I had to rebuild the right side of the car from that.

Things done performance wise:
~Wilwood fronts with Maxima Rears on drilled & slotted rotors
~300zx Master Cylinder
~Avenier
~JGY Clutch, Flywheel, Intercooler, Front Motor Mount
~3" Stainless Dual Muffler Exhaust custom from DelusionH
~Greddy-RS BoV
~Fidenza Short-Shifter

I'll try and get pics of everything I have done, but I'll start with the current project: Avenier Swap from JGY.

First things first, the lower radiator mount is rusted out. Need to get that all taken care of first so I don't torque it to pieces. It literally was twisting when the motor was coming out.

So the motor comes out before it's trailered off to the body shop.

Taking care of the gauge cluster before it goes out to get the radiator support taken care of. The little red button is a kill switch for the top 2.

First part of the 0rder came in from JGY the same day we were loading the car onto the trailer. Also the GReddy Type-RS BoV. Got the car back the same day from body.

This is where we're at at this moment. Have to press a new bearing to get the clutch and everything in since the motor sent was originally off an AUTO which you can tell in the second picture. Also as you can see in the last picture there are three kinks in the fuel rail. Jason told me he'd take care of me though no worries :D

We have the clutch and flywheel on and ready to go. Old fuel rail is off waiting for the new one. Just waiting on the transmission to come back from being welded so install can begin.

Jason@JGY
02-03-2009, 12:41 PM
DO NOT INSTALL A BEARING INTO THE MOTOR. IF YOU DID, TAKE IT OUT. The motor does NOT use a pilot bearing! We don't ship them with our clutch kits for a reason.

NathanM
02-03-2009, 01:23 PM
Well then we're taking pilot bushing out, how are we Supposed to do it? The original sr20de motor had one, though it was the second one the car had so someone could have pressed that one in too. And without it how do you keep the clutch aligned and keep it from chattering?

NathanM

Well I wish that I had more progress to show, unfortunately JWT has yet to get me the ECU, so the entire second shipment of ECU, front motor mount, and IC-piping from JGY hasn't gone out yet. I was trying to wait to post till it showed up, but seeing as they got my ECU on the 1/20 and it is now 2/26 and the ECU is STILL at JWT I can't see this getting done soon. These pictures were taken the day after my last post so the beginning of February and I've just been sitting on my a$$ since then waiting for them to come through. Dustin has been great trying to help.

Either way, here's what I have: motor in the car no fuel rail. The rail is on a long time ago but I haven't bothered taking more pics of it.

I am. Why do you ask?

UPDATE: JGY got the ECU in, but apparently Jason couldn't find time in the last nearly two months to do my pipping so now I'm waiting for that. Hopefully it'll be done by Friday or my brother is going to have a long walk from that cold Milwaukee airport...

NathanM

Well as I wait for some people to get their cans in gear I'll post some other random pictures I have of things done to the car. These are the Wilwoods, as you can see in the second picture they barely fit under the stock rims.

Dustin
03-10-2009, 02:49 PM
better have bought them from here :) , and stop crying about your car your smelly vaginal secrection's are stinking up my office. Your not the only person waiting on car, while I appologise please realize like ive stated before that PAM left JGY and therfore screwed Jason and Garlin, so between the shop and the office they have been slammed, ive only been here 2 months and im still trying to catch up on things that PAM walked out on,

so while im sorry your having to wait and any inconvience it has given you, i promise you that the 3 of us here at the shop have been waaaaaay more inconvieneced then anyone waiting on their car at this time. jasons married now so all the wedding stuff is over and the 3 of us are working hard to turn your cars and parts out. We dont have 30 people working here, there is just Garlin Jason and Me, so lets see......3 people and 30,000 customers......kind easy to fall behind....now imagine how easy it is to fall behind when one person quits without notice....then you have to hire and train a newbie....be patient were busting our *** around here.

NathanM
03-10-2009, 05:26 PM
And you know that if it was your car that was out of commission for two months and a month past deadline you would be ontop of the shop that was responsible, and if you deny that then you're a liar. Plus I distinctly remember 3 weeks ago talking to someone on the phone there that said Jason was cutting and doing the pipping that day so that when the ECU did show up it could be mailed out the next day; now to find out that that indeed wasn't the case you can see where I'm a little miffed.

And hey you should be happy that you're at least getting some form of vagina in your life, I'm starting to think that's why you're not sending me my parts you'll be vaginaless yet again. ;)

Well we're almost done. Got everything and installed it and it's coming along nicely. When the motor fired up the injector on 3 was stuck open, and to confirm that it was the injector and not a wiring problem it was moved to 4. Strange thing is when it was moved to 4 the problem went away so the jostling must have been enough, hurray dumb luck.

Now there is essentially one more problem to overcome, when the car starts to come down in RPM's it just keeps going and dies.... Originally thought that it was a BoV problem because if it was tightened down to the point where it was making the turbo surge the problem wouldn't happen. Car finally though a code today and it says the TPS Sensor is having some problems, so now it's time to diagnose. Glad it's not the BoV though, though we found out after it the BoV was all torn apart looking for problems.

On a side note the boost is coming back as 10psi, on an all stock setup... Going to read it with a SnapOn scanner and see what it is actually at but can anyone think of a reason I'm getting 9-10 (can't remember exactly) and not 7? I was told that if the BoV spring was switched out you can actually make more boost off of a stock turbo, but I thought that the waste gate would still limit it.

And some more pics. Oh and the bumper hasn't been trimmed yet, and the BoV is missing a piece because it went out as a template to fabricate a piece in case we do end up needing to recirculate the system.

Upon further review, the car can now catch itself when the RPM's come down and the TPS code is gone, but the p1336 code is still in there.

And the boost is still holding at 9 and not 7 like I thought it was. Thoughts on that?

Also I ended up not keeping that AC line Mario, it was bent in fine but when the piping came it was in the way so now it's just all gone.

Captain Thunder Teets, make sure you check that valve cover vent often to see if you are getting oil in your pretty intercooler kit.

ErixSEL

Really like the intercooler piping. I don't think I can splurge the $800 for it though lol I wonder if there's a way I can just get the piping since I have one of there intercoolers.

turbomario98
03-26-2009, 02:56 AM
yeah i like it too. i hope the intake is not two different pipes though. that would look really bad. by the way the reason there is no pilot bushing is because the tranny shaft does not come in contact with the crank at all. now if you managed to beat it in there you might end up with a problem.

Jason@JGY
03-26-2009, 10:40 AM
we do 2 pipes because it allows you to use a coupler, the coupler gives some movement and give to the system

most of your motors move alot, so if you have a fixed pipe from the turbo to the air filter, it can cause problems. We also use a bracket and install the MAF to the car, so that it doesn't move. Becuase of this, having the piece be 2 pieces, is needed,

The good news is that our kit allows the battery to stay in the front which I am proud of.

turbomario98
03-26-2009, 11:53 AM
you always have a reason behind you. it makes sense, i would not like the pipe to rub through anything.

ErixSEL
03-26-2009, 04:49 PM
So is there any way to buy just the piping? and maybe have the hot side 2"?

turbomario98
03-26-2009, 05:52 PM
i agree that you do need new i/c pipes. i had a 1991 toyota mr2 turbo and one pipe was rubber factory and it blew off all the time until i bought a kit. he might sell just the pipes for 700. gl its cheaper to get the whole kit though.

NathanM
04-02-2009, 12:44 AM
Captain Thunder Teets, make sure you check that valve cover vent often to see if you are getting oil in your pretty intercooler kit.
It is pretty, are you saying that I have it hooked up wrong or just a warning?

Would bigger piping help turbo spool happen even earlier? I'm new to the whole turbo thing so this has kinda been learning as I go, so I'm not saying it's a bad product by any means (it's quite the opposite) just for my own edification (yeah Dustin try and say THAT word :D).

Jason@JGY
04-02-2009, 11:03 AM
I don't think it would.......and your throttle body is not even 2.5 inches so it would be wasted

ErixSEL

I thought SR TB were 2.75" ??? My 2.5" piping fits in it lol

NathanM
04-05-2009, 04:33 PM
So I am for sure boosting 9-10psi (10 at uber high RPM's so really 9) and not the 7psi which I though was going to be happening. Don't get me wrong not complaining about it at all, more power=more fun!

My question is why? Is this a wastegate issue, cuz that's about all I can think of. Also how much power do you think I'm actually making on the stock turbo boosting 9psi?

ErixSEL
04-05-2009, 05:54 PM
Gauge could be off a bit, bigger intercooler piping kinda adds a bit witht he front mount. Did you check the Number on the turbo to make sure it's not a BB t25? they have 9lb W/G's

NathanM
04-05-2009, 06:27 PM
I did not check the turbo I'll try and get to that when I get back to DelusionH where they're helping me with the welding to recirculate.

The gauge isn't off though, that was my initial though but we tested with two different instruments by removing where the boost gauge is tapped in an running them off there and it's coming back at a solid 9psi.

Have any idea what I might be putting to the wheels HP wise?

ErixSEL
04-06-2009, 12:14 AM
This a DET motor or was it n/a? i forget i put 213 down with a turbo n/a motor with highport cam. on 8lbs i think

turbomario98
04-06-2009, 02:32 AM
i think you have the t25 turbo...and the pipes would not make you spool faster. there is a larger diameter to fill. and when i hade my de turbo'd on 14 i put down 264whp with jwt ecu, cobra maf, and 550's. never went higher than that. but i would just get the pipes as they come. and stay away from the huge intercoolers.....

NathanM
04-06-2009, 12:52 PM
It's a lowport Avenier motor, all stock.

When I was doing my research I found a page that said that the Avenier motor actually did put down 9psi but Jason assured me that it is not the case.

Can my stock MAF even handle 9psi?

The ECU was flashed by JWT for:
1996 se-r, Bluebird motor (this is what was on the JGY invoice so I assume there's no problem with running it with an Avenier)
8.5/1 compression
7700rpm
370cc injectors
se-r MAF

So it should be OK since even at 9psi I shouldn't be making more than 250hp to the wheels

ErixSEL
04-06-2009, 07:47 PM
your gonna need some cams to hit 250 with a t25 unless your running mad boost in which your turbo will probabaly go out lol

Avenir's are highport's not lowports also. And bluebird and Avenir's are pretty much the same thing. bluebirds and w10 avenirs had the non ball bearing t25 runnign 7lb wastegates. The W11 Avenir had a ball bearing t25 which ran 9lbs wastegate. Check your turbo numbers and look on one of the (edited, all this kid wanted to do was run his mouth and mention other forums, geez) for which is which. It's probabaly not a w11 unless you switched your dist. because they had weird distributors and 2 plug TPS's.

So on my first official day of summer (yes the same as the squirrle (http://www.jgyforum.com/showthread.php?p=2422#post2422) ), I was driving back from to school to start my first day of work at my seccond job, painting houses. It's about 7:20 and I was almost done with my 40min drive. Now I'm in Wisconsin and we have more deer then we know what to do with, well now we have one less...

After it got me it fell on the otherside of the road where a mighty Toyota Yaris ran it over taking the bumper and radiator+support off, and lodged firmly under the woman's car. It was there for a good 20yards before she stopped. There were a lot of guts, sorry didn't have a camera to get pictures of the deer.

Unknown yet, but the shop owner is a good guy and a friend so he'll try and cut me as many deals as possible. He also has a good hookup in Japan at a scrap yard so we're going to try and get that JDM N16 front clip for it so long as the price is right.

Jason, do you have a JDM hookup that could get the front end should us Wisconsinites fail?

Jason@JGY
05-23-2009, 06:31 PM
wow, that looks bad

did you get hurt at all? did it possibly hurt your exhuast at all? (lets hope)

no N16 stuff from us I bet that your car gets "totaled"

if it does, buy it back and use all the stuff on another B14. We have a very very clean one for $400

sorry about your luck. that must have been deerzilla

NathanM
06-02-2009, 10:44 PM
Yeah it's pretty bad looking, but once everything got cut open it's not that bad, car is getting fixed hopefully soon and will be back on the road.

The N16 hunt came up short but I'm thinking the 98 front will look better then how it did before. The hood i'll get carbon fiber right away, probably just the OEM looking one and even paint it so you can't tell from the outside to keep any unwanted attention away from the car. Possibly get the trunk while I'm at it before the respray but we'll see how the funds go.

Jason, I'll be getting one of those spiffy drycells from you as soon as I can get a ride to the bank to cash these checks.

The deer was really huge, and really old looking. Didn't get a chance to count the points since they were shattered by the toyota yaris that ran it over, but that sucker was huge.

NathanM
08-05-2009, 08:53 PM
So I'm almost back on the road, and have a cosmetic question and want opinions:

Should the new carbon fiber hood get painted Phoenix Red to match the car OR just stay as is?

Jason@JGY
08-06-2009, 12:26 PM

carbon fiber hood, but the option is to have it painted or not?

how about partially painted?

I like the sides painted and the center undone or visa versa

So it's still not done, but really close... Slightlly different Red this time along with a 98 front end. I'm going to put the B15 SE-R logo in the front I think, it's not a perfect fit over that Nissan Logo but it'll look fine I think

Nice! Don't paint the hood. It looks good like that. Idk about the headlights though.

These look the best to me.

So the car is back on the road, slaying STI's, Audi Roadsters, and most everything else that comes it's way. Looks pretty **** good considering it hit a deer :D

Also Jason I'd like to submit the car for the Magazine. I have rims that can go on should you pick it no worries. It'd make a pretty good story too, kid gets car for $200 and an i-pod, builds it despite wrecking it on a deer and getting taken out by an SUV... Pretty good huh?

1. do you have HID's for it? $110 from us and they are nice........all of us here are using them and love them the funny thing is that Mike's are the only ones that are wack His Civic have weird headlights......it's like a 9003hb bulb or something.........and they don't fit

2. Did you get the email that we sent out to our customer base from sales@jgy.cc? if you did not, email us at sales@jgy.cc with the subject "re: magazine opportunity" We are storing them and reviewing them. You would be surprised the amount of submissions that we have gotten so far.

3. "there's always barber college"

No I don't and I saw that price reduction on them, just hoping the pricing lasts till x-mas brake so I can generate income that isn't solely for paying bills.
