I'm just wondering for the best combination to get the strongest FWD SR20 transmission that can be built. I know about how strong the cryo and the peening can get it but i'm looking for more. For instance there is a vid on these forums for an AWD B13 that clamied to be putting out +600hp and wasn't going through transmissions left and right. How'd he do it?

as for AWD I have no idea ....as for FWD , the strongest are the B15 and P11 LSD model transmissions I have one that is shotpened and cryo treeted , and it should take anything I can throw at it

See I knew that the B15/P11 were the strongest, but how much can they fesably take after cryo and peening? It's still under 400hp isn't it?
The AWD example was more just an example, not planning on making my B14 an AWD machine.

Well......anybody can claim 600HP :-)
From what we have seen on the inside, and from our Island customers, the gti-r tranny is not much different than our normal FWD trannies.
The strongest trannies we feel are the aftermarket ones. I'm running 2 right now, one in our drag car and one in my blue car. We bought them from PAR in Australia back in '03/'04. The problem is that they are not available now.
Here's how it went: Mike K. song and danced us that we could sell these things to you guys and even put it in Turbo Mag as a vendor. Then, the SR20 forum and he wrote that we had them. Somehow, it got on the forum that they would be available for about $2300. Sam, one of the guys from Par was even writing on there I seem to remember. After all was said and done, we needed to sell them for $3300. You know how it goes.....we get bashed for price stabbing, we suck, you know the rest....
the problem was that we had to buy in sets of 10 sets at a time. PAR claimed that the price was without 5th gear......so we had to pay extra for 5th and they refused to make it straight cut.......so after that extra cost, and the freight, and the exchange rate fee and the duty fees, and FedEX custom fees, we had roughly $3000 in each set. Then, you add on to that most customers were paying for them with a credit card......so we'd lose a few points that way..........long story short, we were just breaking even selling them at $3300. Then.......no one would buy them. The forum......same crap...insults..........but we have $30k of gears here
Then.....the customers start coming, "Mike said that I could get sponsored by you, give me the gears and I'll run your sticker on my car" ha ha ha
and "hey, you've known me for a long time, can I have them at cost?"
and on and on and on
Then.........a few sets sold........and they all broke or wouldn't go into reverse and on and on........and then those guys would go onto the forums insulting us !!!! Heck, all we did was sell them. Then PAR wouldn't warranty them! What a joke. Then.......Mike K. is no where to be found and he started the whole thing.
We think PAR was sub-ing out the job and not even doing it. Heck, on their website is a photo of the gear stacks that they claim to sell, and it's our photo that we took here back in '03 for Cary Ling's tranny and you can see my pocket knife in the photo. You would think that if they had them, they would use their own photo.
What we found was that on 3rd gear, they were pressing the syncro onto the gear! how foolish. We managed to tig weld those on the sets we had left, and them machine them back to tolerance. This took care of the issue.
We still lost face on the whole deal and are still blamed for it. We should have never of carried that product or listen to "industy big wigs" advice.
We later tried to contact some companies about making gears for us, but the pricing was higher than $3k and we already had been outed for that!
ok........., what the aftermarket stacks did was greatly increase the surface area that was in contact during gear pulls. This helped prevent the stacks weak point of failure........bending
The B15 tranny style is completely different than the B13/14 in it's interior design. Because of such, the failure issues that arose with the ealier trannies should not be there. I think most people will be fine. I also think they do not need the B15's shot or cryo'd.
Sadly, many of you won't experience the awesome whine of straight cut gears that we get to experience in a tranny in our blue toy. Also, clutchless shifting in a the drag car is also cool!

haha
my knife is still on there!
for those of you that have been here.........the table that we build the trannies on, we took the photo there and I laid my Little Road Runner knife beside it
ok, I'm finally here on the forum :)
So, Jason, do we have any option on really strong AWD (FWD) transmission?
Any products on the market??
What do you think of PPG?

We're in process of making 800whp Pulsar, but the trans question is still open.

can you put the qr25 transmission on a sr20 motor out of the se-r spec v 6SPEED transmissionS? And are they better than the gti-r Tranny as far as fwd goes?

Tim........glad to see you are posting.......that's what we need, quality posts from a quality guy with questionable taste in clothing
no........ quick answer
yes......long answer.....you have to "make it fit" either using an custom adaptor plate or buy using like a 1.8L sentra part of a tranny and something from a maxima and axles
at the end of the day you will spend more than the $2200 for a NEW LSD B15 tranny from JGY.
Now you will get people that will tell you that they did the whole thing for $700.........well, last year, I bought a 2003 Yamaha Raptor 660 quad for $2500........and it has over $3500 of parts on it.................. so yes, I have a built $6k Raptor for $2500
That is irrelavent to the discussion of "how much does it take to build a Raptor like yours" because it takes $6000 to do it.
The GTi-r transmission is available through us for about $600 and in stock. What is your credit card number?

Yea i can't afford that. Is the gti-r tranny awd or fwd? and how much faster would it make it?
Can i just put the final drive gear in my car?
