Well here are a few pictures of my ride ......I bought the original turbo and cams from jason a few years ago , ( GT2871r and S4cams ) the setup that was supposed to go in the car has changed many times since then ....I have a problem ....oh well here is the car , by the way it has 24k orig. miles

thse pictures where taken the night before the car was shown at the Nissan Tech/design center celabration of 25 years of designing cars in Farmington hills MI. it was on of 25 cars diplayed to give visitors a look at variouse cars from Nissans years in the U.S.
and here is one of the semi current motor projects for the car , I am already changing gears on this one also ....2.2L sleeved sounds like the plan now , so much for the det with eagle rods and Wesico pistons that the head was on ...it will make a nice spare ( I was just mocking some stuff up )

That intake manifold....man that is mean looking!

01-19-2009, 02:18 PM
How many PSI can you get out of that?
NissanCrazyEric
01-23-2009, 03:48 PM
I know I can run over 30psi on race gas ...a friend of mine has a similar setup
mickey93ser
01-23-2009, 03:56 PM
Dang!!! Where did you get it, how much?
NissanCrazyEric
01-24-2009, 04:23 PM
Well it depends on the turbo .....to tell you exactly how many PSI it will make certan compressers have differtant abilitys , 10psi on a T28 , is far differant then 10psi on a say a SC61 , or even a GT3076r , but as for who mad ethe intake , it was made buy Jon at O2induction , but he is not making them for the time being , posibly done all together , I paid new around 900.00 , but he said they are goint o be expected to pay more if he makes them again

that's just nasty.... good work.

So it depends on your set up and not the intake itself. Well at least it looks good. Jon does really nice welding.

It has been many years and lots of time ....invested, and it has been a lot of readding , and alot of advise from people that have been doing this alot longer then me ....( JGY , Jay Hass , JWT , and many more freinds on the SR20 forums )

is it a total VVL motor? just VVL head? details please
are you going to run cam gears to work out some of the excessive valve overlap?

It is a Ve head on a DE blocked that was sleeved ( block came from a froum member Afstegg) most of thebest results so far have by guy that have got them running have the cams set to 0 ...I have yet to get it running , conflicting sceduals and such ...with the builder of the air to water intercooloe and down pipe ...hope to get it in this week ...the motor is going to come apart again in a year or so , I will be looking into cam gears then as I intend to go up to a 90mm bore and get pistons with bigger valve reliefs , so I can try to run these SR20ve 20V cams I have on the shelf and the 2.2L should be able to spool the GT35r a little faster but that is all out there in the future still ...I just want to get my valve springs in it this week and try to tie up some loose ends and soon as posible to get it running before the snow hits ....or I will be borrowing or buying an enclosed trailer to haul it around ....
but back on the subject at hand yes I do belive there is some power to gain from running cam gears at a +5 ,-5 setup so as to overcome some of the overlap , but at higher rpms it should not be as much as an issue with a turbo the size of the GT3582R ....

It would be neat to have someone have a setup and change just the head and see the difference. I think it is cool to do a project like yours. But I think a normal DE or DET head would make the same power and be much simpler and cheaper.
Let's say like a DET head with a set of Tomei cams.............versus your setup, why do you think a very small lobe up to a certain rpm helps with power?
thanks

I think the DET/DE heads have great power potentail ...the VE head just flows so much better out of the box it does have smaller valves though , sothing I want to work out next also ....I want the head to be worked over some more also ....it has had a valve jod and some work done to the bowl ....I do like the idea of running a head that has the abillty to idle and run like a stock cammed motor intill a predetermained RPM then it has a crossover, and all of a sudden you are on a high performance street cam like the S4s ( similar lift and durration ) , and the 20V ( 270s )cams I hafe are even bigger .....but in the name of simplicity , I think a well worked DET/DE head could give simmilar #s in the way of HP but not in the way of streetability , I have another built moter ( eagle rods CP pistons) and a det head laying around , it would be interesting to see what kind of power it could make with the right tune comparred to the VE head turbo setup ....it is somthing I might have to try someday ....

Well she is running ....I and we went to the dyno for some base tunning , after a bunch of tire spinning and then a loss of fuel pressure ( pump blew the line off the sending unit ) thought the fuel pump **** , she sounds mean as hell and only #s I got were at the .4 bar spring off the gate so the gauge read around 7psi and the AEM EMS data log says 5-6 psi ( the .4 bar is supposed to be 5.8psi ) so no high 500 low 600 whp runs yet , she is holding around 25inches of vacume when running though , and 282whp and 261ftbs is not bad at that boost.....here are a few pics

Seems neat so far.........
when I first saw the post, I was going to tease you about how you are spinning with that power level.............then after I saw that the car looks like it is changed to the wall in the adjacent building.........I guess I understand
We use pots that are inpregnated into the concrete right in front of the dyno. We can strap your car down so hard that we can compress the springs

Well we made 411whp the other day on pump gas reving to 7500rpms , and spinning the tires like crazy on every run we tried to make more power on .......so I changed the valve springs and reving to 8500rpms , and am putting the slicks on , and a PTE SC6262 turbo and going back to the dyno next week I am shooting for 500whp on pump , right now the car is an animal even prgresive tunning of the boost it still spins the tires in 3rd on the road at 10lbs tappering to 18 psi after 80mph , the sc6262 is awsome the gt35r was great but the SC6262 feels way stronger up top .....well a little more about the dyno another car tunned here made around 470whp then when it went down state to a dynojet , it made 550whp on the same tune with no changes ....so we know for sure it reads low , but this is somthing that is known , that mustangs read lower then dyno jets

Advice....... DON'T RUN SLICKS ON THE DYNO if the Mustang Dyno you are using is anything like ours.......it will eat them alive.
All jokes aside........have your dyno guys spend some money and get some pots. They are made by Champ......and you buy them from AutoBody Tool Mart. You rent a concrete hole saw kit for $200 and bam........done.
Tell them that it looks like they have a nice shop............but they need more pots.
