I want to see a JGY manifold. Discuss...

what type?
We are building 2 now, one for an SR in a FWD, and one for an RB25 in a 240

I'd like to see a tubular manifold for the FWD SE-R's. Unless it's highly chromed and polished like Mario's, I'd almost rather have a tubular if not for bling...lol

Mario's..........doesn't run though so it's pretty and slow
We are doing a tubular for Corey's car.

Are you going to make for RWD Sr20? If so i will probably be interested unless it would hurt me on a lower boost application. When i get back i'm only planning on boosting my car to 17psi. I saw that you only saw gains from it once you started hitting 20psi+

20psi on the FWD intake manifold
on the exhaust, I would assume only upgrades

Nevermind i'm an idiot. For some reason i thought this thread was about intake mani.

Any updates? I know they have the gti-r cast one? thats theirs. Was wondering where that one placed the turbo though? seems as the stock gti-r places it to close to the block and intake runs into it.

GTIR Mani has no real issues with the intake hitting it. I have one mounted in my car and everything seems to fit just fine if not tight.

You have theres? My factory gti-r one with a gt28R on it and the 2.5" intake adapter runs into the block :/

Oh sorry man, misread your post. I also have a factory gti-r mani and a T25. Like I said though it my be tight but no fitting issues.

? we have done about 45 installs with that manifold and ours........even using a 3 inch intake on a turbo and it never hits the block
what is hitting the motor?

My intake hits, the coupler that goes on the regular gtir mani. You happen to have any install pics of your guys manifold on the intake side near the block?

So why don't you use your own manifold? And the manifold you are using is a Avenir or Bluebird, not gti-r. It allow's more room for the intake side so you can fit a disco or such on it. Gti-r doesn't give as much room but it flows better.
This is the gti-r manifold, you can tell by the heatshield. It has 2 bolts on top to hold it down.

1. I own my manifold so I am using it :-)
2. The avinier manifold came with my motor so I used it. I honestly don't think the gti-r manifold or ours helps with HP until after 400HP and I built that car to be a fair representative to our customers.
3. I don't understand at all what you are talking about with the turbo. The gti-r manifold is different....it moves the turbo closer to the water pump side about 3/4 of an inch and further to the ground by about 3/4 of an inch vs. the bluebird manifold. All of that moves the turbo further away from the bell housing.....which gives you the interferance.....which is why the gtir can use a larger wastegate canister. Either way, the block is about 3 inches thick there. Just grab a grinder and remove any aluminum that is in your way of your intake. It's simple
4. I don't know who sold you that turbo, but that is no disco potato as that is not a 3 inch inlet for a hose. It might be a disco potato with the wrong cover though.
5. You can also rotate the turbo about 5 degrees on the manifold with the slop in the 4 bolts and get the turbo to point further away from what ever that wrong cover is pointed toward:):)

Wait so are you using the JGY or avenir lol Your confusing me my bad haha
I don't have a Disco I have a GT28R Dual BB T28 pretty much.
yeah I though about grinding it but I just cleaned my eninge bay and don't want metal shavings everywhere again hahah I just might do it though
And all i've heard is the gti-r manifodl flows better, i guess it really isn't noticable haha I should just go back to a avenir but my dumbass sold the extra one I had lol

Think he was poking fun at ya bro, he owns the mani so technically he is using HIS manifold, lol.
Jason@JGY
03-26-2009, 10:23 AM
I was teasing. I am using an Avinier manifold and I own it:-)
ok, I see above that you mention the GT28R, gotcha
just grind the block, you will be ok
the gti-r manifold does have a better path in it, but that doesn't mean that it makes more noticable power, you already have it, so you are cool,
so.......just grind the block and get a chance to was you engine bay again
ErixSEL
03-26-2009, 04:29 PM
hahaha ok gotcha, yeah i'll probably do that today why the turbo is off. Got wastegate issues with the GT28R while clocked like a avenir setup lol
Jason@JGY
03-27-2009, 11:06 AM
you should buy our bracket/wastegate combo that we developed specifically for that issue

Is it like the one atp sell with the stock t25 bracket extended? cuz it didn't work lol I duno if your guys are different, but I got it to work anyways.

no, the ATP one doesn't work for the FWD set up's
the funny part is that back in 2003, when Cary Lingg bought the first GT28RS, he got it from ATP and it was sent here, well, the wastegate didn't work for him, (we were building the motor), so they made one for him and it was called the CLbracket, well it didn't work, we have it here, and based on all that, my father and I designed the one that we currently sell.......he makes it for us, we sell it, you buy it

On that tubular manifold that is for the FWD SR, does it fit a Bluebird SR? And does the flange fit a T2871R turbo? My plans is to do a Bluebird swap in my 200SX and I was going to upgrade the turbo to a T2871R.
Jason@JGY
04-07-2009, 11:01 AM
which tubular manifold are you talking about?
ChristopherNissan200sx
04-07-2009, 11:04 AM
The manifold that NissanCrazyEric posted pictures of on the first page. The manifold looks really awesome and completely custom.
turbomario98
04-07-2009, 01:09 PM
yeah that mani is custom but not from jgy...i would however like for jgy to create a good flowing mani that had a reasonable price tag on it.....i will not pay 1k for a log mani set up or 1k+ for a tubular mani......
ChristopherNissan200sx
04-07-2009, 04:10 PM
Oh my bad I thought that was a JGY component. My mistake.
Jason@JGY
04-07-2009, 05:08 PM
that's the problem. with the time.....they will cost about $1k or more......and you will sell 2 a year
it's not worth making them
ChristopherNissan200sx
04-07-2009, 06:34 PM
So I guess my best bet is learn how to wield, get the tools and supplies, and do it myself lol.

.......realistically, if you want 400WHP or less, I think they are not needed
We did a Full Race manifold on an S13 setup earlier this year. 310HP at the wheels at 18psi...........for $1400, I would expect more for my money
ChristopherNissan200sx
04-07-2009, 06:53 PM
I guess I am really thinking to hard about it. I'm sure that 350 hp would be plenty for my car. If I get in the 400-500hp range, then it might not even be that fun to drive. Everytime you would stomp on the gas it would just burnout. And I understand that FWD SR trannys have a horsepower limit too.
ErixSEL
04-07-2009, 08:22 PM
lol 250-300 hp you hit the gas and it just spins haha fwd turbo no matter what your not gonna have traction in first haha. and you need to read more on the trannys 00-02 g20 and sentra trannys hold up very well
ChristopherNissan200sx
04-07-2009, 08:53 PM
I have heard about cryo treating trannys and peening them or something like that. But I know there are ways around the tranny weaknesses.

I guess this new product... isn't for FWD cars, or does it matter?

You FWD guys CAN use that manifold but heres the thing FWD and RWD share the same flanges but the RWD mani puts the turbo in a different location then your typical FWD mani. If your FWD and want to use this manifold or another mani thats made for rwd please realize you will at least need to purchase our slim line fans and install them on the front of the radiator instead of the rear of the radiator, also you may need to remount the radiator about an inch forward but all of this can be done giving you a much more broad range of manifold choices.
mickey93ser
04-09-2009, 10:24 AM
So what manifold do you normally use use for the FWD cars?
Dustin
04-09-2009, 10:32 AM
Anything from the GTI-R or Bluebird

04-09-2009, 03:28 PM
i have the gtir manifold and its pretty nice. i had it on my old set-up as well. it flows pretty good high and low but i think up high it lacks a little bit....but the gti-r or bluebird is perfect for us.

From my reading I noticed that the JGY mani has a larger air flow than the GTi-R mani. However are there any other differences between the two; is there any porting/polishing done to the JGY manifold? Also, I posted another thread regarding some turbo & manifold combos: Will this JGY manifold be ideal for me if I want to use a GT2876R with Compressor Trim 50, .70 A/R and Turbine 76 Trim, .86 A/R, 2.75" inlet diameter, T28 Flange?

Honestly, all the trim talk and discussion seems to be more of a trend over the years and seems to go up and down. Realistically, the trims don't normally dictate the size of the outside of the turbo.
Normally speaking, the "B" cover from Garrett will fit our motor with our manifold. Larger intake covers than that won't.
Our manifold is an inexpensive turbo manifold that works well. Cast manifolds last forever :-) It's not a $1000 manifold, though.
