okay here we go. ill have to admit to something! i loved honda at one point. i had two hatch backs and one del slow! i have to say that they are so easy to dress up. then i got my hands on the 3sgte mr2, and fell in love with power. after the mr2 came my 1999 200sx se-r. i hade the de on 14lbs with the old school lsd, jwt ecu, 550 msd's, and cobra maf. put down 264whp. loved it. nissan has to be the strongest motor i think. now i have the u13 built by jason with 95lb msd's, cobra maf, jwt ecu, 2001 locking tranny, with the gt3076r .86. ill put the numbers out when the dyno is ready, BUT....lets go over some pro's and con's.....

sr20det pro's
turbocharged
popular
more parts
the best ka replacement

f22c pro's
bigger displacement
lightweight
reliability(WHATEVER DUDE)
ivtech

sr's con's
turbo headaches
hard to find(call up jgy)
exspensive(if you go cheap thats your fault and s2k is over 25k at least)

f22c con's
lower redline
hard to find
high dollar

stock hp on sr is 202/ f22c= 240

torque on sr is 203 f22c=153ft.lb

now i don't agree with all of super sreets info, but over all sr's are better. look at the torque loss for the honda.

and if you have seen the artical in super street the pimp factor is girls like it!!! why do they use girls so much???? jason know's what i mean.

Sexy sells so lets put girls next cars so no sees what the car is really like. They think if they show girls next cars with a certain company's part, then if I put that part on my car then I will get the girls.
Jeff
BTW: GO NISSAN and don't mess with the honduh.

I thought that article was faulty. The basis of the article was to deside whether to put an SR into an S13 or a Honda motor.

Coming from a guy that put a nissan motor in a Ford, I would have to say that they skipped more info than they discussed. Countless things such as wiring issues, mounts, alignment, and speedo and tach functioning are super important. I have seen many mounts made by people that I think are HORRIBLE. Realistically, we will spend more time on the motor mounts, making sure they are perfect, than we will on the wiring. anyway

Motortrend and Car and Driver (at least in the past) were more realistic magazines about the truth of cars. Coming from a guy that knows,.........the smaller the mag, the easier it is to manipulate the info. Take a look at Fidanza's marketing style within the import market and the Mustang market and you might get a glimpse of what money can do to what may be written as facts.

Back in the day, one of those 2 mags had an article about the S2000 and the times being posted and briefly paraphrased it was like this "we see times of 13.5 in the quarter and must say that those times are performed by people that don't own the car and don't care to blow it up, own that car and go to the strip and you will get 15.8 at best."

My point is this, you give me a really good driver (I'm not claiming to be a 1/4 king) and he will get lower times in a comparatively $$$$ cost 240 with an SR than he will with a S2000 motor. ...............AND IT WAS EASIER TO PUT THE SR IN THE CAR.

Honestly, for the money, you could put a stroked 305 chevy motor from Advance Auto parts that makes about 350HP and 395 torque in a 240 and spend less to get that power setting up an SR in the car...................but who of you could do the motor swap realistically? Would your tach work? How much heavier would the car be? What radiator hoses would you use? Can you tig weld? Do you understand metal fatigue? Have you made a drive shaft?

yes very true, but you're talking bout a Chevy SB vs. an SR -- V8 vs. 4 banger....so even though you can buy 350HP/395TQ out of a stock SB, I would take more pride in tuning 300HP/340TQ 4 cylinder or 2.0L

one i also thought the info was not that great and two i i have and would never waste my time even though i like the s2k and three not sure if you thought i was talking like i wanted to do this or not but i was curious of the info provided.

p.s. i hope this does not offend jgy but i have bought from them for a year and i dont think i have seen jason, garllan, or pam half naked promoting their product!

I agree. I was referring to the logic of not using a Nissan motor in a Nissan chassis.

oooo, ok. yea i hate it when i see guys swapping the 2jetz, or whatever that gay supra motor is, into a 240. it just doesn't look right.

If Nissan wanted RPS13, S14, S15, 200sx, or 240sx to have a v-8 they would have put one in the car. The LS1 swap is the lastest, and I think it is stupid. Lets put a corvette motor in a import. Don't get me wrong if that is your thing then great. But I believe that taking a perfectly good 240 and putting anything but a Nissan motor in the car is a SIN!!!!

could not agree more jeff. yea sometimes its cool to see a huge V8 or of some sort of big block motor sittin in a 240. but if that starts becoming real popular, then i dunno what i'm gonna do? Nissans belong in Nissans, Nissans belong in Hondas, and Nissans belong in Toyota. And American manufacturers can keep their motors on their chasises, cuz if it really came down to it.....i think small block all motor could take an SR with at most a GT-25, but thats just my opinion. would make for a good drag
